Case Studies

I don't think I'll ever stop being amazed at the impact that a Cognomovement session has on an individual. So, I asked 2 of my clients if they would share their experience following their session.  Here's what they said....

Case Study 1: Melissa - Blood Phobia

Did you know that about 1 in 50 people in the UK experience some kind of Phobia?

I’ve now helped a number of people with phobias, from spiders to fear of heights. But the one I found the most interesting was with Melissa, who was referred to me by another client (with a sugar craving) in 2023.

Melissa had a phobia towards blood. When she messaged me, she told me that someone on the train said the word “cut” and she started panicking thinking they were going to talk about “blood and gore”. But, they actually went on to talk about cutting up a pair of socks! So that's when she decided to contact me.

Initial Chat

When I met with Melissa, she had no idea when or what had triggered her reaction to blood. However, she did remember being given a pen knife as a child and tested it out by cutting her own thumb to see how sharp it was (not something I'd recommend!). Strangely, that sight of blood did not bother her.  So she didn't think it had stemmed from her childhood, as this phobia had only come about during her adult life, although she wasn't sure when.

We chatted about instances of her phobia and one recent incident I thought was interesting. She was on a long haul flight watching a movie. Next thing she knew, the flight attendant was checking to see if she was alright as she had fainted. Seems the film had a blood scene in it and again her body reacted to it. This was when she realised that this phobia was getting worse.

As we were talking about her situation, I could see that she had started fidgeting with her fingers.  I asked her where in her body she was ‘feeling it’ and she said in her chest. In fact, the thought of it was causing her heart to race, and she had started to feel sick.

As always, I ask on a scale of 1-10 how intense this feeling was. She said 10!

The Session

We then started the session.

I have no preconceived expectations of how the session will go or even if this would work for her. But as the session progressed, and her feeling started to calm, memories started to unlock. These memories were of occasions where she had to ‘deal’ with blood, such as her child having a nose bleed and causing her husband to take over.

Lots of memories of her past came to light, but no particular trigger. But that’s okay, there doesn’t need to be one.

By the end of the session, she felt much calmer, although it was difficult to judge if Cognomovement had worked or not. But I do remember us both looking for a YouTube channel that showed real blood in them, but couldn’t find any. What was interesting though, was at the start of the session she said that even the thought of blood would trigger her, and here she was looking at fake blood videos with no reaction!

So I sort of knew something had shifted 😉.

Follow Up

I checked in with Melissa to see how she was feeling. Here's the actual WhatsApp messages we exchanged:

Gobsmacked! & Chocolate Craving?

 Kind Words 💖

Husbands Reaction 🤣

I genuinely never really know if a Cognomovement session will work. We did throw in an extra cheeky chocolate craving session as well, which also worked.

Phobia's can be massively debilitating and leave a person in fear, sometimes constantly. So perhaps trying a different modality such as Cognomovement could reset your fear, and get you your life back.

Case Study 2: Ali - Constant Overwhelm

Earlier this year, I did a presentation to a private online group about Cognomovement and why our unwanted emotions drive our thoughts and won’t go away.  Ali, who I already knew through networking, was quietly listening in.

Soon after that presentation, she messaged me and asked if I might be able to help. As always, I said we could try a Cognomovement session and see what happens.

When I arrived at Ali’s home it was obvious that she was in a level of distress, although she was trying really hard on the outside not to let it show. But actually, my job means I really needed her to show it as it’s the best way we can measure the level of intensity and, therefore, the impact on her.

Ali's overwhelm was probably beyond a 10/10 due to: family health issues, being a parent, as well as keeping a very successful business afloat.

Overwhelm sort of creeps up on us. One minute you notice nothing, the next you notice you’re constantly busy. Then, you feel the overwhelm and realise it’s not going away, and yet you just keep thinking about it. Finally, bang! You’re not coping and need help. Most of us will try and seek a doctor, others will try alternative therapies. Ali did the right thing…she contacted me.

Our first Session

When I asked Ali where she was feeling all this in her body, it was in her throat and it would come over her in unexpected waves. Normally, when it's in the throat, the person doesn't feel like they have a voice or can be heard.

We got to work, and lots came out, including expectations on herself as well as the 'need' to try better.

That said, I knew we would need an extra session as we hadn’t uncovered the key to all this, and I suspected it may have stemmed (as most things do) from our childhood.

The Follow-Up Session

We left Ali in the last session feeling about a 6/10 as regards her 'Overwhelm'. But in this session, as we continued to reduce the unwanted feelings, it would unlock stuff from her past helping her to understand why she felt the need to try and fix things that she didn’t have control over.

Remember, all I’m doing is throwing her a ball to calm her nervous system and then allowing (checking) her neurology to see what new perspectives have occurred now that the brain doesn't have that 'feeling' to protect anymore.  And trust me, a lot came out which it needed to, thus she herself started to notice the changes.

From frustration, disappointment and limiting beliefs about herself to calming those emotions and opening up a new thought process, she felt much lighter. Her realisation that she can’t fix things that she has no control over was key. And that the only person she really needed to focus on was her.

Here’s the testimonial she posted on LinkedIn that then led to 4 other people in need of help contacting me. All of which have received a Cognomovement session, feel like themsleves again and are grateful for my support and Ali's simple, yet power post.

Here's what Ali kindly wrote on LinkedIn. If you click on the image it will take you directly to her post.
