Case Studies
I don't think I'll ever stop being amazed at the impact that a Cognomovement session has on an individual. So I thought I'd let you know about some of my clients, the limiting difficulties they had and how they now feel.
Case Study 1: Melissa - Blood Phobia
Did you know that about 1 in 50 people in the UK experience some kind of Phobia?
I’ve now helped a number of people with phobias, from spiders to fear of heights. But the one I found the most interesting was with Melissa, who was referred to me by another client (with a sugar craving) in 2023.
Melissa had a phobia towards blood. When she messaged me, she told me that someone on the train said the word “cut” and she started panicking thinking they were going to talk about “blood and gore”. But, they actually went on to talk about cutting up a pair of socks! So that's when she decided to contact me.
Initial Chat
When I met with Melissa, she had no idea when or what had triggered her reaction to blood. However, she did remember being given a pen knife as a child and tested it out by cutting her own thumb to see how sharp it was (not something I'd recommend!). Strangely, that sight of blood did not bother her. So she didn't think it had stemmed from her childhood, as this phobia had only come about during her adult life, although she wasn't sure when.
We chatted about instances of her phobia and one recent incident I thought was interesting. She was on a long haul flight watching a movie. Next thing she knew, the flight attendant was checking to see if she was alright as she had fainted. Seems the film had a blood scene in it and again her body reacted to it. This was when she realised that this phobia was getting worse.
As we were talking about her situation, I could see that she had started fidgeting with her fingers. I asked her where in her body she was ‘feeling it’ and she said in her chest. In fact, the thought of it was causing her heart to race, and she had started to feel sick.
As always, I ask on a scale of 1-10 how intense this feeling was. She said 10!
The Session
We then started the session.
I have no preconceived expectations of how the session will go or even if this would work for her. But as the session progressed, and her feeling started to calm, memories started to unlock. These memories were of occasions where she had to ‘deal’ with blood, such as her child having a nose bleed and causing her husband to take over.
Lots of memories of her past came to light, but no particular trigger. But that’s okay, there doesn’t need to be one.
By the end of the session, she felt much calmer, although it was difficult to judge if Cognomovement had worked or not. But I do remember us both looking for a YouTube channel that showed real blood in them, but couldn’t find any. What was interesting though, was at the start of the session she said that even the thought of blood would trigger her, and here she was looking at fake blood videos with no reaction!
So I sort of knew something had shifted 😉.
Follow Up
I checked in with Melissa to see how she was feeling. Here's the actual messages we exchanged:

Gobsmacked! & Chocolate Craving?

Husbands Reaction 🤣
I genuinely never really know if a Cognomovement session will work. We did throw in an extra cheeky chocolate craving session as well, which also worked.
Phobia's can be massively debilitating and leave a person in fear, sometimes constantly. So perhaps trying a different modality such as Cognomovement could reset your phobia, and get you your life back.
